The Charlotte Business Journal recognized the winning companies of its sixth annual Healthiest Employers of Greater Charlotte awards program today during an action-packed event at the U.S. National Whitewater Center.

The program honors local employers who put an extra emphasis on health and wellness for their workers. The all-day event not only recognizes health and wellness programs that score above the national average, it also incorporates fitness, health and team-building challenges into the celebration.

Employers were recognized and the company rankings in each size category were revealed during the event, which included an outdoor yoga class, a wellness expo and a raft race.

Companies were evaluated and ranked after they completed a survey that touched on issues such as the availability of smoking-cessation programs and the use of health screening to identify areas of concern for their employees.

Be sure to check back Monday for more photos and coverage from the event. The CBJ will profile the honorees in the June 10 print edition.
